AOS offers a broad background and accumulated experience in optical sensors and systems research. Key areas of competence include fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) and especially the interrogation of these elements, spectroscopy, strain measurement, smart structures, optical non-destructive testing (NDT) including ESPI and Shearography and gas sensing

We undertake single and multi-client research projects and also participate in UK and EU con-funded collaborative research programmes, such as LINK, and FP6.
