 AOS Peltier Controller Family

AOS has developed a range of high performance, low cost controllers for thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling applications. Capable of temperature control to better than ±0.005șC and of providing drive currents of up to 3A (bipolar, heat/cool) these circuits can usually be operated without the need for external heatsinking.

The PC1 controller is a very small (65mm x 40mm) OEM unit, offering proportional (P) and proportional-integral (PI) control. In normal operation it uses a 10k ohm (nom) NTC thermistor as the temperature sense input although operation with other NTC thermistors is possible. The PC1 controller operates from a single +5 volt rail and has been designed primarily as a high quality set-point controller for the telecommunications and optical sensing industry sectors although other application areas may benefit from its excellent thermal and electrical performance.

In addition to an identical performance to the PC1 the PC2 series of controllers has a number of enhanced operational features.

  • Numerous sensor capability (Pt100, Pt100, 10k, 2k2 and other NTC thermistors, AD59X and LM335 sensors

  • P, PI and PID controller functionality

  • Reverse and over voltage supply protection

  • Run-away temperature detection and shutdown circuitry

  • In-control indication

  • USB control (option) with LabVIEW

  • drivers via SPI interface of control setpoint or direct controller drive voltage

  • USB indication of sensor O/P voltage/temperature, TEC current O/P, error signal,

  • Easy limit set-up procedure (max current and voltage)

  • OEM (160mm x 100mm Eurocard), stand-alone and rack mounted case options
