AOS Technology Ltd was formed in 1996 as a
management buyout of the optical sensor research group of British
Gas Research. The Company’s Directors, Sam Crossley, Tim Litt and
Stuart Murray, have more than 50 years experience in the research,
design and development of optical fibre sensors and systems.
Sam Crossley PhD MBA BSc CEng FIEE (Managing Director) -
has been active in the area of optical and optical fibre systems for
more than 25 years. His experience covers a diversity of optical
techniques and applications and he has been responsible for the
research and development of a range of optical sensor and
communication systems. He is the author of more than 20 technical
publications, including journal and conference papers and book

Stuart Murray PgD, BSc, MInstP, CPhys (Research and Quality
Director) - has a background in optical systems which extends
over fifteen years. He has worked on a wide diversity of optical
sensors, particularly with reference to the requirements of the gas
industry. He has been responsible for delivering research and
development programmes in gas and chemical sensing, distributed
temperature sensing, and smart structures. Contact
Tim Litt PhD, BEng, MInstP, CPhys (Engineering and Safety
Director) - has been working in opto electronic sensor
technology for fifteen years. His background is in the application
of interferometric and FBG sensors for strain and pressure
